ASEM is operating in the markets of Industrial Automation, Test, Measurement with a complete range of industrial PCs and monitors and a complete range of HMI, control (PAC - Programmable Automation Controller), remote assistance, and Industrial IoT gateways, based on x86 (PC) and ARM hardware platforms and FT OptixTM, Premium HMI, UBIQUITY, SoftPLC and SOFTMOTION software platforms.

ASEM is characterized by its own hardware, firmware, software, mechanical and system design capability, and by the ability to manage all the phases of the production process on its own, including the assembly and soldering of the electronic boards. The complete domain of hardware and software technologies allows ASEM the maximum flexibility in realizing also products and systems customized for specific customer needs.

ASEM has been one of the pioneers in the technological and digital integration between the worlds of Information & Communication Technologies (I.C.T.) and Industrial Automation, a forerunner in the application of digital technologies and the guidelines at the basis of the fourth industrial revolution called "Industry 4.0", and is today one of the emerging companies in the European Industrial Automation market. ASEM is one of the few, if not the only, medium-sized European companies able to develop and dominate on its own all the driving technologies of the "Industry 4.0" revolution.

Today ASEM has a staff of 250 people, 30% of whom are dedicated to R&D activities.

ASEM A ROCKWELL AUTOMATION COMPANY: CONTINUITY IN TECHNOLOGICAL IDENTITY, FLEXIBILITY, AND BUSINESS APPROACH IN THE GLOBAL CONTEXT.

On April 30, 2020, the purchase of 100% of the shares making up the share capital of ASEM by Rockwell Automation S.r.l., a company belonging to the American group Rockwell Automation Inc., a leading player operating in the industrial automation sector with headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (USA), was completed. The company employs more than 23,000 people, has customers in more than 80 countries, and 2019 sales of $6.7 billion. Given the complementarity between ASEM and the group in terms of products/systems and business approach, through the global organization of Rockwell Automation ASEM will have the opportunity to grow faster and spread its products and solutions worldwide. Within the group, all possible synergies will be deepened and implemented, but, in addition to providing its products in brand label with Rockwell Automation ASEM will continue to operate on the market independently, with the current management, the current staff, and the current sales organization in Italy and abroad, ensuring all customers in absolute continuity the features that until now have shown to appreciate, such as flexibility, a wide range of configurable and customizable products/systems and software solutions based on "Open & Standard" technologies, and fast delivery times, support and after-sales services.

Our history

40 years of Made-in-Italy innovation

The performance, configurability, robustness, design and the high number of software features of ASEM products and systems, are the result of 40 years of experience in designing and producing solutions for the most demanding industrial applications.

Believing in the potential of the application of Open & Standard technologies also in the Factory Automation market and taking advantage of the excellent know-how in hardware, firmware and software development, ASEM has consolidated a role and presence of primary importance in the market of Industrial PCs, HMI, control and remote assistance systems.

1979 - 1982 Specialisation in Electronic Engineering

Founded in 1979 by Renzo Guerra, ASEM (Automazione Sistemi Elettronici Microcomputer) as an engineering was specialised in designing and manufacturing industrial automation systems with microprocessor-based technology.

1983 - 1992 Protagonist in the IT sector

ASEM enters the Information Technology market designing and producing interfaces and accessories for Personal Computers.

Being the only Italian company besides Olivetti®, ASEM designs and manufactures MS-DOS-compatible PCs, reaching at the end of the '80s a 6% share of the italian market, over the shares of multinational companies like Apple® and Compaq®.

1993 - 2005 Leadership in the Industrial PC market

In the mid-'90s, ASEM is the first company in Italy that designs and produces Industrial PCs specifically addressed to the Industrial Automation market.

2006 - 2008 MANUFACTURER OF AUTOMATION SYSTEMS

In 2006 ASEM began a path of specialization to propose itself to the market not only as a manufacturer of Industrial PCs but also as a company able to provide software solutions and systems for industrial automation.

Thanks to agreements with leading companies ASEM proposes to the market the software platforms Premium HMI® and CODESYS® (softPLC).
The local unit in Giussano (MB) dedicated to software and systems support activities opens its doors.

2010 EXPANSION IN EUROPE

The promotion and sale of products, systems and software solutions on the German and European markets begins.

2011 - 2012 Software and Remote Assistance era

Premium HMI 3 platform is released, being the first visualization software including functionalities developed by ASEM.

The innovative UBIQUITY® remote assistance platform for remote access to supervision systems and automation devices is released.

The second plant in Artegna starts working in which the electronic boards, previously assembled at contract manfacturing, are also assembled.

The software R&D local unit is opened in Verona.

ASEM designs and manufactures ARM based systems for HMI, remote assistance and remote control.

The new version of the visualization software Premium HMI 5 is released, introducing multitouch programming, multicore processors support and OPC UA protocol compatibility, that provide access to uncountable scenarios in the widespread distributed connectivity world, leading the way to the distributed connectivity of the "Industry 4.0" and Industrial "IoT".

2016 OPC UA IN THE PremiumHMI5® PLATFORM

The new version of the supervision software PremiumHMI5® is released, which provides multitouch programming, support for multicore processors and the OPC UA protocol, which opens up countless scenarios in the vast panorama of distributed connectivity, laying a solid foundation to address all Industry 4.0 and Industrial IoT issues.

2019 THE FOURTH REVOLUTION OF HMI IS REALITY

UNIQO is launched on the market.

The revolutionary UNIQO platform is released, based on a multi-platform framework, called "UNIQO Platform", which allows the development of transversal applications on Windows and Linux operating systems, installable on x86 and ARM-based hardware, always guaranteeing maximum performance. UNIQO fully supports the specification of the OPC UA standard and this is why a "FULL OPC UA" platform is defined. UNIQO projects are dynamic because everything you can do at design time, with the development environment called "Q Studio", you can do it also at Runtime through predefined commands and/or through application logics written in C#.
